Hello
My name is Katie, and I am the founder of BalancED, a consultancy dedicated to providing specialised support and guidance to educational institutions, parents, and, when appropriate, directly to students.
With over 14 years of experience as a Primary School Teacher and 3 years as a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCO), I have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within inclusive education. My background in Applied Psychology further strengthens my ability to support the emotional, behavioural, and learning needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
Through BalancED, I work closely with schools to ensure that every child receives the tailored support and high-quality education they deserve. I also collaborate with parents to help them better understand and advocate for their child's needs.
In addition to my consultancy work, I am a part-time Specialist Teacher for Reachout ASC, where I support autistic students through personalised strategies and interventions.
My Story
My passion lies in creating inclusive, supportive environments where every child can thrive. My work is deeply rooted in the principles of Meraki (doing something with soul and creativity), Ikigai (a reason for being), and Lagom (balance and harmony), which form the foundation of my approach to educational consultancy.
I specialise in relational and trauma-informed practices and supporting children with complex needs in mainstream settings. My extensive experience includes managing high caseloads of SEND, delivering evidence-based interventions, and collaborating with multi-agency professionals to ensure tailored, impactful support for students. I firmly believe that building strong relationships, fostering emotional well-being, and creating nurturing environments are key to unlocking potential and driving lasting change.
